Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya & transfer to the hotel  -Optional Tour

Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide from Superfine Safaris Limited and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi.  Check in and refresh at your hotel. Later in the day, you can have an optional visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, an elephant orphanage, and the Giraffe Centre. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Nairobi

Day 2: The Great Plains of the Masai Mara

Have an early morning breakfast, check out of the hotel, and depart headed to Masia Mara National Park. Enjoy the scenic transfer drive through the Great Rift Valley, local communities and towns, rewarding you with spectacular views, arriving at your lodge in the afternoon. Check in, refresh, and have lunch. You will then go on a sunset game drive to catch up with wild animals actively feeding. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in the Masai Mara

Masai Mara National ParkThis whole day is dedicated to exploring and enjoying the vast Masai Mara and all its hidden treasures. Have a full day of game drives in the open savannahs, venturing deep into the reserve in search of incredible wildlife sightings.  If it’s the season for wildebeest migration, enjoy this magical encounter as millions of zebras and wildebeests are seen crossing the Mara River. Game driving in Masai Mara National Park rewards with spectacular views of wild animals such as Lions, giraffes, Rhinos, wildebeest, Zebras, Giraffes, Waterbucks, buffalo, Elephants, Cheetahs, and warthogs, among others. In the evening, visit the Masai local communities for a cultural immersion, Meet and interact with local people, learn about their traditions, customs, and beliefs. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 4: Transfer to Nairobi & Fly to Kigali, Rwanda

You can have an optional morning game drive, have breakfast, check out of the lodge, and drive to Nairobi. From there, you will take a connecting flight to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The driver guide from Superfine Safaris Limited will be waiting to welcome you at Kigali International Airport.  Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight

Day 5: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Have a relaxed breakfast and go for a city tour in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The tour in the city includes visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, offering you an opportunity to learn about Rwanda’s history and appreciate its remarkable journey to success. You can also visit the Kimironko market, a center for fresh foods, and also the Inema Art Gallery. Have lunch in the city and then embark on a drive to Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National ParkThe day you’ve been waiting for! After an early heavy breakfast, get your packed lunch and head to the Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing on the gorilla trekking rules and procedures. You will be assigned a gorilla family to visit and an experienced ranger guide to lead your trek. The trek begins at 8:00 am and can last for between 2-6 hours, depending on where the gorillas will be located. After meeting the gorillas, spend a full magical hour with them, observe their behavior, take photos, capture live videos, and enjoy the best wildlife encounter. You will then hike down, receive your gorilla trekking certificate, and drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Golden Monkey Tracking & Cultural Village Visit

Have breakfast and, like on the previous day, transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for registration and briefing on the golden monkey trekking adventure. Enjoy a trek to see the playful and endangered golden monkeys, which live in the bamboo forests of the park. Interestingly, the trek to see golden monkeys is less strenuous compared to gorilla trekking. The allowed time is also an hour from the time you meet them. Return to the lodge for refreshment. In the evening, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, now known as the Gorilla Guardians Village.  The cultural tour introduces you to traditional Rwandan culture through dance, music, and a re-creation of a pre-colonial king’s palace. You will be dressed as a traditional king and queen. Dinner and overnight at your lodge

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Kivu

Following a relaxed breakfast, enjoy your last moments in Volcanoes National Park, check out, and depart from the misty mountains, driving south to the stunning shores of Lake Kivu. Enjoy the scenic views of Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills, local communities, and farmlands terraced on the hills. Check into your lakeside hotel and spend the afternoon relaxing by the water. You can take part in any optional activities, such as swimming, sunbathing, and boat cruising. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day 9: Activities on Lake Kivu
