Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup from Hotel – Transfer to Murchison Falls – Zziwa rhino tracking
Expect to meet a professional driver at your respective hotel in Entebbe or Kampala. Get a short briefing about your trip and today, you will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park. A journey to Murchison takes around 6 to 7 hours and includes en route stopover at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for you to track rhinos.
After tracking rhinos, proceed to enjoy a lunch break in Masindi. From Masindi town, drive to Murchison Falls National Park which lies in the Northwestern part of Uganda. Get cleared at the park gate and continue to your lodges for relaxation.
Day 2: Morning game drive – Afternoon launch cruise at the bottom of the falls
Enjoy an early breakfast and later, set off for a sunrise game drive through the Northern section of Murchison Falls National Park. The early morning game drive takes about 2-3 hours and expect a great welcome from giraffes as they start their day, range of antelopes, cape buffaloes, lions, elephants, and leopards.
Return from a game drive to be served lunch. Afterwards, you will proceed to the Paraa Jetty to catch up with the boat/launch cruise on the Victoria Nile. The boat cruise on the Victoria Nile lets you enjoy sights of hippos, basking Nile crocodiles, and plenty of aquatic birds. You will return once you have reached at the base of the Murchison waterfalls.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Today, you will meet your driver and expect to be transferred to Kibale National Park. This will involve driving through the scenic route featuring the rift valley escarpment. You will drive through Hoima to Fort Portal tourism city. The 7-8 hour journey includes en route lunch break at Fort Portal, then you continue to check in your safari lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking -Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and after, you will have a briefing on chimpanzee trekking regulations at Kanyanchu Tourist Center. It will be at Kanyanchu where you will be allocated a park ranger guide to lead you. The briefing is expected to start at around 6:30 am then at around 8:00 am, you begin the actual trek to see chimpanzees.
A trek with Kibale chimps takes about 2-4 hours and includes an hour for you to have a close encounter with these primates. Expect to return and proceed to the lodge for lunch then check out. Today in the afternoon, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park and en route, don’t miss a photography moment at the Kikorongo Equator monument.
Day 5: Lion tracking – Launch cruise along the Kazinga channel
Start your early morning with a rewarding lion trekking session along the Kasenyi plains. Lion tracking allows you to enjoy a close observation of lions in the natural setting. You will be accompanied by an experienced guide/researcher for this activity and after, you will get back to have lunch.
In the afternoon, you will depart the lodge for a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. The Kazinga channel is a natural channel and links Lake George and Edward. On a boat cruise, you will be viewing hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic species.
Day 6: Ishasha tree climbing lions – Transfer to Bwindi National Park
After breakfast, you will proceed to Ishasha sector where you will have a chance to search for the tree-climbing lions. Later, you will continue to nearby lodge for lunch break then have a final journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.
Day 7: Mountain gorilla trekking – Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and proceed to the park offices to be briefed on the guidelines for gorilla trekking. The briefing session will be handled by the park official from Bwindi and he or she will also allocate the park ranger guides as well as gorilla families. You will depart from the park offices for actual trek to see gorillas at around 8:00 am and your adventure may last 2-6 hours. You will be guaranteed of 1 hour for up close and personal encounter plus photography, then return to have your gorilla trekking certificate.
Leave the park offices and proceed to your lodge for relaxation. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the scenic Lake Bunyonyi for a leisurely moment at the shores/lodge facing the lake.
Day 8: Canoeing – Transfer to Entebbe for departure
Wake up early to have breakfast and later, you will catch up with a sunrise canoe ride. The canoe ride will be done using a traditionally made canoe and you will reach to some of the islands on Lake Bunyonyi. Return from the exciting canoeing experience to check out and start your journey back to Entebbe.
