Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up &Transfer to Mgahinga

You will arrive early morning at the Entebbe International Airport and be welcomed by a representative from Superfine Safaris Limited.  Have a short meet, greet moment, and soon be on the road transferring to Mgahinga Gorilla Park in southwestern Uganda. Enjoy driving through the beautiful countryside with stopovers at the equator for photos and at Igongo Cultural Center for lunch and a cultural excursion. You will then proceed to Kisoro enjoying scenic views of the rolling hills of Kigezi.  Arrive in the evening, check in at the lodge, have dinner and spend a night.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

After a tasty breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the briefing point with your guide to join other guests for a briefing moment about the Gorilla trekking rules and regulations. You will then hit the jungle after this session and begin the search for the habituated mountain Gorillas. The trek requires some level of fitness as it involves hiking through thick undergrowth in the Virunga Mountains for several hours. After all that, you will meet the Gorillas and have a face-to-face encounter as you observe their behavior in their natural habitat. The Gorillas have been trained to get used to the presence of humans without changing their natural behavior. You will return to the starting point to meet your guide after this encounter and proceed to the lodge for rest and lunch.

If time allows, head out for a community visit to learn about the life of the local people and their ancient survival skills. Return to the lodge later, relax, have dinner and overnight there.

Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking and Departure

The day starts with a heavy breakfast at the lodge and immediately drive again to the briefing point to be guided on the dos and don’ts of Golden Monkey Tracking. Mgahinga forest is a unique jungle sheltering both the mountain Gorillas and the Golden monkeys. Unlike Gorilla tracking, the Golden monkey trekking experience is less demanding as the Golden Monkeys are easier to tress since they don’t move far like the Gorillas. After a few hours of trekking, you will meet this tiny primates feeding and going about their daily activities. Golden Monkeys live in large families of 15-50 or even more individuals led by the Alpha males. The whole encounter with them takes an hour and soon return to the starting point to meet your guide. Drive to the lodge, check out and  drive to Kigali airport for departure
