Day 1: City tour in Kigali with a guide & Travel to Volcanoes National Park

After a delicious breakfast, leave the hotel and start your Kigali city tour with a professional guide. About 2 hours will be spared for the Kigali city expedition, which includes a visit to the Gisozi or Kigali memorial center, local markets, and other historical sites. After the city tour, connect to one of the top hotels/restaurants for a leisurely lunch break.

Leave Kigali for Volcanoes National Park, and getting there takes just 2-3 hours. En route, you will be amazed by Rwanda’s spectacular Virunga Volcanoes. You will arrive early in order to check into your pre-booked accommodation for relaxation and dinner.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking & guided cultural tour in Iby’Iwacu

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your senior driver. Transfer to Kinigi to meet the Park official from Volcanoes National Park. You will be briefed on gorilla trekking rules and also get a habituated gorilla family assigned to you. You may need to come with a pack of snacks and bottled water due to the unpredictable nature of this primate adventure.

Trekking with gorillas begins at 8:00 am and will take at least 2-6 hours, depending on your walking. Only one hour will be available for you to observe how mountain gorillas behave and take photos. This is a special hour for every primate enthusiast to maximize. After, you will be accompanied back to where your trek started, then transferred to the lodge to relax.

Leave your safari lodge for the afternoon cultural visit at the Iby’Iwacu Village. At Iby’Iwacu, expect to have a complete cultural immersion, learn the distinct traditions, cultures, and other practices of the people. The Iby’Iwacu is run by ex-poachers, who have turned into advocates of gorilla conservation. Explore more on how they have contributed towards gorilla and habitat conservation. You will also enjoy amazing dances and cultural dances as showcased by the locals.
