Detailed Itinerary

At 4:00 am, the driver guide representing Superfine Safaris will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or your hotel for a day’s gorilla visit. After the meet and greet, start off the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in northwestern Uganda to catch the pre-gorilla trekking briefing at Kinigi Park headquarters. The drive time from Kigali to Volcanoes is 2-3 hours. Together with other travelers present, gather at Kinigi headquarters for registration, briefing, and gorilla family allocation.  Local dancers will entertain you with their traditional songs and dances as a gesture to welcome you into their homeland.

At 8:0am, the ranger guide will lead you into the dense forests searching for the endangered gorillas. The trek is undoubtedly strenuous, and the actual time is unpredictable. However, you are 99% sure of meeting gorillas at the end of the trek. On a good day, you can meet other wild animals such as golden monkeys, forest elephants, colobus monkeys, and several birds on your trek to see gorillas. Finally, you will meet the gentle giants, and a face-to-face encounter with them will amaze you!  You will be amazed on how different family members play different roles just like in people’s homes. The gorilla family is headed by a silverback who acts like a father, making decisions for all other family members. Adult female gorillas act as mothers who nurse and take care of the little ones, while juveniles keep the entire family lively and happy.

Spend an hour with the gorillas, learn about their social behaviors, and have fun with your lost cousins. You will then hike back to receive your trekking certificate and drive back to Kigali
