Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup from Hotel –Transfer to Murchison Falls – Zziwa rhino tracking
Expect to start your 10-day Uganda safari with an early morning breakfast and later, meet the driver guide. The driver guide will provide highlights about your long tour in Uganda and after, you will depart from Entebbe or Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park.
Getting to Murchison Falls National Park takes about 6-7 hours on the Kampala-Gulu highway. En route, you have a chance to visit rhinos in Ziwa then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park to relax, dine, and retire for a night.
Day 2: Morning Game drive –Afternoon launch cruise at the bottom of the falls
Catch up with your driver guide when set for the sunrise game drive. Today, you will be exploring the Northern side of Murchison Falls National Park game tracks. Along the Northern game tracks, you stand a chance to explore diversity of wildlife including hartebeest, Rothschild giraffes, cape buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lions, and warthogs, plus birds.
Return from the enriching game viewing session and have a leisurely lunch. Leave the lodge once again and today’s afternoon, you will have the best of launch cruise. Your boat cruise excursion will get you incredible treat to diverse aquatic species including hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Have an early morning breakfast and check out of the lodge. Today, you will officially leave Murchison Falls National Park for Kibale National Park. Drive through Hoima City to Fort Portal where lunch break will be had before you continue to check in your lodge in or nearby Kibale.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking –Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP
After a delicious breakfast, continue to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center to meet the park official. The Kibale National Park official will take you on briefing about chimpanzee tracking regulations and also assign park ranger guides to you. At Kibale, there exist up to 1500 chimpanzees residing in the same habitat with an additional 12 primate species. Visits to explore chimpanzees in Kibale are done in any of the 4 habituated communities.
Expect to spend about 2-4 hours on a search for Kibale chimps and upon finding them, you will have a complete 1 hour for up up-close and personal encounter. Start walking back to the briefing point to meet your driver guide. Proceed to have lunch at the lodge and after, you will board your 4×4 safari car. Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and en route, you will make a stopover at Kikorongo Equator crossing. After the photography session at the Equator, continue to your respective lodges for relaxation and dinner.
Day 5: Lion tracking –Launch cruise along the Kazinga channel
Wake up early to enjoy breakfast and after, you will set off for the morning lion tracking session. This will be done along the Kasenyi Plains with an expert. Lion tracking is exceptional in that you have ample time with lions and expect to have a deep understanding of the behaviors of lions.
After tracking lions, you will get back to chill in the lodge or camp. Have lunch and later, transfer to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. The afternoon boat cruise will be enjoyed with an experienced guide. It will be a 2-3 hour recreational experience with expectations for you to explore a variety of aquatic species like hippos, crocodiles, and birds.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi National Park
At leisure, you will have breakfast and then depart. Today, you will be connecting to Bwindi via the Ishasha sector. Get to explore some of the wildlife in the Ishasha sector including the tree-climbing lions. You will leave Ishasha area early and connect to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Day 7: Mountain Gorilla trekking – visit Batwa Pygmies
Enjoy a delicious cup of tea/coffee and after, you will assemble at the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
You will get briefed on the rules and regulations to be followed when trekking mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi involves searching for mountain gorillas on foot and with the lead by your park ranger guide. The length of the trek may vary but can take between 2-6 hours but including an hour for you to observe how gorillas behave and take pictures.
After a magical moment with gorillas, expect to return to have lunch and relaxation. You will again leave the lodge for a cultural visit in the nearby Batwa pygmy community. Get to interact with the Batwa pygmies, a few indigenous people believed to have spent 1000s of years in the forest as hunters and gatherers.
Day 8: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for canoeing and island tour
Have a hefty breakfast and early morning, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is Uganda’s deepest Lake and holds up to 29 magnificent islands. Today, expect to be part of a memorable canoeing experience along the Lake Bunyonyi and also visit historical/culturally rich islands like the Punishment Island.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo –Boat ride –Night game drive
Get yourself an early breakfast at the lodge and later, check out. Set off from Lake Bunyonyi for Lake Mburo National Park which lies in Kiruhura, western Uganda.
Lake Mburo National Park is where diversity of savanna wildlife exist, especially zebras, giraffes, antelopes, like impalas. Expect to have a late afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo then end the day with a night game drive to encounter a variety of nocturnal species.
Day 10: Nature walk in the park/game drive – Transfer to Kampala
Expect to conclude your enriching 10-day Uganda safari with a guided nature walk. You will be accompanied by an armed ranger guide, enjoy the breathtaking scenery, and encounter diverse wildlife. Nature walks introduce you to deep in the habitats hardly reached by car. After a nature walk, you will get back to check out and depart for Entebbe.
