Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe, free time
Welcome to Uganda! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), you will be met by a private safari vehicle and transferred to your Hotel in this bustling Town. Take some time to rest at your Hotel.
If you arrive early with free time to explore, check out some urban highlights. This City of more than 80,000 residents is a cultural hotbed in Uganda. Some options include checking out the City’s art and craft markets, or spending some time wandering through the impressive Entebbe Botanical gardens, and many other areas.
While exploring Entebbe City, look for Cafes serving organic coffee made from locally-sourced beans. We shall also ask the Hotel you are staying in to set up a reservation at a romantic restaurant serving typical Ugandan fare.
Overnight at: Hotel Number Five (luxury), Boma Guesthouse (midrange), or 2 Friends Hotel (budget).
Meal Plan: Depends on arrival time.
Day 2: Drive to Jinja City, enjoy a source of the Nile tour
After breakfast, you will hop into a safari jeep and start the drive to Jinja, the Adventure Capital of East Africa. This Town is one of Uganda’s most stunning honeymoon safari destinations. The transfer lasts 3 hours, with en-route stops for photography and interaction with the locals. Lunch will be at the Lodge.
Next on the itinerary for this day is the source of the Nile Tour, which offers an opportunity to explore the point where the Nile, Africa’s longest River, starts its journey to the Mediterranean Sea. Retire to the Hotel for free time in the evening.
Overnight at: Lemala Wildwaters Lodge (luxury), Jinja Nile Resort (midrange), or 2 Friends Guesthouse (budget).
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 3: Jinja Optional activities: Whitewater rafting, horseback rides, or Bungee jumping
Over the entire day, you can enjoy a wide range of adventurous activities. The ferocious waters of the tranquil banks of the Nile River make Jinja a wonderful whitewater rafting destination. If you are a beginner, you will have a rafting training led by seasoned experts to learn about the fundamentals. Or head out on a more adrenaline-pumping activity during Bungee jumping or horseback rides through the banks of the Nile River.
Whatever you choose, you will be treated to an unforgettable experience and endless views of the surrounding landscapes. In the evening, you have an option of a sundowner by the banks of the Nile River. Of course, one of the most unforgettable ways to pass the time on the banks of the Nile is to lie under a basket of stars as the calming waters and sounds of chirping birds lull you to sleep.
Overnight at: Lemala Wildwaters Lodge (luxury), Jinja Nile Resort (midrange), or 2 Friends Guesthouse (budget).
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 4: Relaxation Day
After a tiring day of exploring Jinja and the surrounding landscapes, this is the day you get to unwind at the Lodge while enjoying breathtaking views.
Overnight at: Lemala Wildwaters Lodge (luxury), Jinja Nile Resort (midrange), or 2 Friends Guesthouse (budget).
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe, Fly to Murchison Falls National Park
Bid farewell to Jinja this morning as you return to Entebbe on a 3-hour drive. When you arrive at the Airport, embark on the one-hour afternoon flight to Murchison Falls National Park. Afterwards, transfer to the Lodge.
After a long day of driving and flying, you might just want to unwind at the Lodge, but those who wish to explore a bit more can go for an afternoon game drive with a visit to the top of the falls.
Overnight at: Nile Safari Lodge (luxury), Pakuba Safari Lodge (midrange), or Mama Washindi Lodge (budget).
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 6: Murchison Falls morning game drive and afternoon boat ride to the bottom of the falls
Prepare for an early wake-up call as you embark on a game drive through Murchison Falls National Park when the animals are most active. Watch the beautiful sunrise over the sweeping plains, casting a golden light as nocturnal wildlife return from their hunt and other animals wake up to start their day. Look for predators (including leopards, lions, and others), and see herds of elephants, buffalo, and antelopes (especially Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, and Jackson’s hartebeests) grazing peacefully. Later, return to the Lodge for a delicious proper breakfast and some free time to unwind after your early start.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat ride to the bottom of the falls. Keep an eye on the surrounding landscapes (to see elephants, Hippos, Cape buffaloes, and antelopes) and on the skies to see different bird species, including African fish eagles, pelicans, Kingfishers, and lilac-breasted rollers soaring above the river banks. You will also see numerous ground-dwelling birds such as secretary birds. After the adventure, head back to the Lodge for a well-deserved meal under the star-filled sky, uninterrupted by urban lights.
Overnight at: Nile Safari Lodge (luxury), Pakuba Safari Lodge (midrange), or Mama Washindi Lodge (budget).
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
