The detailed itinerary

Day 1: Start of your wildlife safari from Nairobi, Afternoon game drive

Early morning, your safari guide will be present at your hotel premises. He will welcome you to Kenya once again and take you through the itinerary. After the short briefing, you will depart from Nairobi for Amboseli National Park which lies in the shadow of the legendary Kilimanjaro Volcano.

Arrive early and get a warm welcome from the breathtaking scenery from Amboseli. Check in your lodge for you to have some relaxation and lunch break. Later, you will catch up with your tour guide ready to begin the afternoon game drive in Amboseli.

During the afternoon game viewing, you will be spotting the park’s amazing wildlife including giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, warthogs, and bird species. You will be driven back to your respective camps to enjoy a leisurely dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: An early morning game drive in Amboseli & transfer to Lake Nakuru

Meet your driver guide early morning and today, you will be embarking on your second game drive session in Amboseli National Park. Your early morning game drive will run for about 2-3 hours and it will let you explore more wildlife including lions, buffaloes, elephants, wildebeests, leopards, gazelles, and giraffes, etc.

After the game drive, you will have lunch at the safari lodge and some relaxation. Later, you will be transferred to Lake Nakuru National Park which is about 6 hours’ drive.

Day 3: A full day in Lake Nakuru 

Have an early morning breakfast and after, you will embark on a full day game drive in Lake Nakuru. With your expert and in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle, you will be enjoying clear view of Lake Nakuru National Park’s wildlife including African elephants, gazelles, cape buffalo, lions, zebras, and bird species. The Park holds about 400 bird species and you will be in position to spot a wide range of them today including colorfully pink flamingoes.

Day 4: Pick up & travel to Maasai Mara

Depart from Lake Nakuru for Maasai Mara and this will be after your heavy breakfast. The Maasai Mara National Reserve lies in the Narok County, Southwestern Kenya. It is Kenya’s leading wildlife destination and is most popular for Big 5 plus the Great Migration. Once you have arrived at the Mara Reserve, you will proceed to the lodge to relax and have lunch at leisure. You may have late afternoon game drive through the savanna plains of the Mara Reserve or opt to relax at your safari camp.

Day 5: Explore Maasai Mara

Expect to start your day early after breakfast and you will spend the entire day in the wilderness. With a safari guide present, you will start with morning game drive and end with the afternoon session. On each of these game drive session, you will be spotting a range of wildlife in Masai Mara including the Big 5, antelopes, zebras, hyenas, cheetahs, warthogs, and wildebeest. Witnessing the Great Migration can be possible but timing is key because the ideal period for it is usually around July to August. You will return to the lodge in the evening and enjoy a leisurely dinner.
