Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a professional safari guide from Superfine Safaris Limited. After a short briefing about your adventure, you will be transferred to your hotel in Entebbe.
Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a relaxing evening by the shores of Lake Victoria or simply unwind after your international flight.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park – Visit the Top of the Falls
After breakfast, depart for Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area. The scenic drive passes through vibrant towns, rural villages, and beautiful countryside.
Upon arrival, visit the spectacular Top of Murchison Falls, where the mighty River Nile forces itself through a narrow seven-metre gorge before plunging dramatically into the Devil’s Cauldron.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive, Nile Boat Cruise and Wildlife Viewing
Rise early for a morning game drive across the northern savannah plains of Murchison Falls National Park. Expect to see Lions, Elephants, Rothschild’s giraffes, Cape buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Jackson’s hartebeest, Oribis, Warthogs and Leopards (occasionally)
After lunch, enjoy an afternoon boat safari along the River Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Along the riverbanks, you may observe hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and an impressive variety of water birds. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Budongo Forest Butterfly Walk and Chimpanzee Tracking – Transfer to Semuliki
After breakfast, head to Budongo Forest Reserve for an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience. The forest is also one of Uganda’s finest butterfly habitats, making it an excellent destination to observe colourful forest butterflies while exploring the lush tropical ecosystem.
Following lunch, continue your scenic journey through the Albertine Rift to Semuliki National Park, arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight near Semuliki National Park.
Day 5: Butterfly Watching in Semuliki National Park – Visit Sempaya Hot Springs – Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, spend the morning exploring Semuliki National Park, one of Uganda’s richest butterfly habitats. Located within the eastern extension of the Congo Basin rainforest, the park is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and offers one of the best butterfly watching experiences in Africa.
Accompanied by an experienced naturalist guide, walk through the lush forest trails in search of colourful swallowtails, charaxes, admirals, commodores, and numerous forest butterfly species. The humid rainforest environment, rich vegetation, and mineral-rich streams create ideal conditions for butterfly activity throughout the year. Along the way, you may also encounter forest birds, monkeys, squirrels, and a variety of reptiles.
Later, visit the famous Sempaya Hot Springs, where boiling water naturally emerges from deep beneath the earth’s surface. Learn about the cultural significance of the hot springs and enjoy the scenic forest surroundings before having lunch.
In the afternoon, drive through the beautiful foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains to Kibale Forest National Park, a journey that offers spectacular views of tea plantations, crater lakes, rural communities, and rolling hills. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking and Butterfly Watching in Kibale Forest
Today is dedicated to exploring the remarkable biodiversity of Kibale Forest National Park, often referred to as the primate capital of East Africa.
Following an early morning briefing by park rangers, set off on an exciting chimpanzee trekking adventure. Kibale is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, and trekking through the ancient rainforest offers an unforgettable opportunity to observe these intelligent primates as they feed, groom, communicate, and play in their natural habitat.
After lunch, enjoy a guided butterfly watching walk along Kibale’s forest trails. The park supports hundreds of butterfly species thanks to its rich tropical vegetation, abundant flowering plants, and pristine streams. Watch for brilliantly coloured swallowtails, emperor butterflies, commodores, and other forest specialists while your guide explains their fascinating behaviours and ecological importance.
If time permits, you may also visit the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed conservation area famous for birdlife, butterflies, monkeys, and unique wetland vegetation.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, depart Kibale Forest and drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular savannah park. The journey passes through picturesque countryside, crater lakes, banana plantations, and traditional villages before entering the park.
After checking into your lodge and enjoying lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive across the Kasenyi Plains. These open grasslands provide excellent opportunities to spot Uganda kob, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, hyenas, and lions. With a little luck, you may even encounter a leopard resting in the shade.
As the sun sets over the savannah, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Begin the day with a relaxing breakfast before heading to the Kazinga Channel for one of Uganda’s finest wildlife boat safaris.
The Kazinga Channel links Lake Edward and Lake George and attracts incredible concentrations of wildlife throughout the year. During the cruise, observe hippos basking in the water, crocodiles resting along the shoreline, elephants drinking at the water’s edge, buffaloes grazing nearby, and countless bird species including kingfishers, fish eagles, herons, bee-eaters, and cormorants.
After lunch, continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, travelling through the scenic landscapes of the Albertine Rift. Rolling hills, terraced farms, forests, and local villages make this one of Uganda’s most picturesque drives.
Arrive at your lodge in the evening, ready for the highlight of your safari.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking and Butterfly Nature Walk
Today promises one of Africa’s most unforgettable wildlife experiences. After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers before entering the ancient rainforest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.
The trek may take anywhere from two to six hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, you will spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, interact, care for their young, and move through the forest.
Following your gorilla trekking experience and lunch, enjoy a leisurely guided butterfly nature walk (where time and energy permit). Bwindi’s montane rainforest is home to numerous butterfly species, including several endemic to the Albertine Rift. Walking through the forest offers excellent opportunities to photograph butterflies while appreciating the remarkable biodiversity that makes Bwindi a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 10: Return to Entebbe – Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before beginning the scenic drive back to Entebbe. The route passes through beautiful highland scenery, local markets, and rural villages, providing a final glimpse of Uganda’s spectacular landscapes.
Along the way, stop at the Equator for photographs, souvenir shopping, and refreshments.
