Detailed 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe by your professional safari guide from Superfine Safaris Limited. Leaving the bustling city behind, you will travel westwards through Uganda’s picturesque countryside. The journey offers constantly changing landscapes including lush tea plantations, traditional villages, rolling hills, fertile farmlands, banana plantations and the magnificent Rwenzori Mountain ranges in the distance.
A stopover will be made for lunch in Fort Portal, one of Uganda’s cleanest and most beautiful tourism cities. Often referred to as the gateway to western Uganda, Fort Portal is surrounded by crater lakes, tea estates and breathtaking scenery.
After lunch, continue to Kibale Forest National Park where you check into your lodge and relax before dinner.
If time allows, you may enjoy an evening nature walk around the lodge or simply unwind while listening to the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale Forest
Today is the highlight of your 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale Forest. Wake up very early for breakfast before transferring to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre where you will receive a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers about the habituation experience, forest safety, and responsible wildlife viewing.
Unlike regular chimpanzee trekking, the habituation experience begins much earlier in the morning as researchers locate the chimpanzees before they become active.
Accompanied by experienced researchers, trackers and armed rangers, you venture deep into the rainforest following fresh chimpanzee trails.
Once located, you spend up to four unforgettable hours with the chimpanzees as they carry out their daily routines.
Some of the moments you will enjoy this day include morning awakening calls, grooming bahaviors of chimpanzees, female adult chimpanzees nursing infants, chimpanzees feeding on fruits and leaves, Nest building and juveniles swinging through trees
Your guides explain the ongoing habituation process, chimpanzee behavior, social structures, conservation efforts and scientific research being conducted in Kibale Forest.
Besides chimpanzees, Kibale Forest National Park is home to numerous other primates including Red-tailed Monkeys, Black-and-white Colobus Monkeys, Red Colobus Monkeys L’Hoest’s Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Olive Baboons and Grey-cheeked Mangabeys
In addition to primates, kibale Forest National Park is a home to over 375 bird species some of which are endemic to the Albertine. Your chimpanzee trek is an opportunity to meet some of these birds

Day 3: Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary Walk – Return to Kampala or Entebbe
After breakfast, enjoy a guided nature walk through the famous Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, one of Uganda’s finest community conservation projects. The walk through this wetland is an opportunity to meet numerous primates, birds and reptiles which live there. The most sightings include Red Colobus Monkeys, Black-and-white Colobus Monkeys, Vervet Monkeys and Blue Monkeys
Bigodi wetland is also home to over 200 bird species which make it a paradise for birders. Some of the birds seen here include Great Blue Turaco alongside hornbills, kingfishers, weavers, barbets and many colorful forest birds.
The walk also introduces visitors to local medicinal plants, butterflies, swamp vegetation and community conservation initiatives that directly benefit surrounding villages.
After the nature walk, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe with a lunch stop en route before arriving in the evening.
