Bwindi Forest National Park
Famous for sheltering the endangered mountain gorillas, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in south-western Uganda, shared by Kabale and Rubanda districts. The dense forest park is located roughly 501.6 kilometers from Kampala, which takes between 9-1 hours of driving via Kampala, Masaka, Mbarara, Kabale highway. Mountain gorilla trekking is the major travel activity in Bwindi Forest. The park is one of the most visited parks in Uganda, receiving a high number of travelers from different parts of the world.
Over 500 mountain gorillas are believed to be living in Bwindi Forest, shared amongst the four gorilla regions (Ruhija, Nkuringo, Buhoma, and Rushaga) that make up with forest park.
