Getting to Rwanda From the USA

There are no direct flights from the United States to Kigali (Kigali International Airport). All connections require at least one stopover. Typical total travel time is fifteen to twenty hours depending on your US departure city and routing. The most common options are:

• Day 10: Return to Kigali. Afternoon at leisure. Evening flight home.

Jet Lag and Planning Tips

The time difference between Rwanda (UTC+2) and the US East Coast (UTC-5) is seven hours; from the West Coast (UTC-8) it is ten hours. Eastbound jet lag — travelling to a later time zone — tends to be the more disruptive direction. Build at least one full recovery day into the start of your itinerary before gorilla trekking.
